I was searching for the name of this plant but I can’t find it on internet. Perhaps is the best way to write email to botanical society in New Zealand to seek for help. I was so glad to receive emails from John Barkla (Botanical Society of Otago) and Richard Herbert (Wellington Botanical Society) for their kind reply regard this type of plant. I am truly appreciated for their help and now I know more about this particular plant.
Here is an summary of the information they provide:
“The common name of Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) in the Family Apiaceae. Orginally from the European Mediterranean region, it has spread to most of the temperate world. In some cultures it is regarded as a culinary herb. Not to been confused with hemlock (Conium Maculatum) which can look similar and is poisonous. Both tend to grow in roadside waste areas. It is an introduced plant to New Zealand, and is regarded as a weed in New Zealand as well.

Found this type of New Zealand green seaweeds on rocks along the coast. They have such semi-transparent and gel or jellylike structures. I collected their green color palette and show it here. This is my first color palette collection. Will do more on other plants! (Picture taken - 8/12/07, Kai Iwi beach, Wanganui New Zealand)

This architecture of the spider web make me wonder and imagine that it can be a very cool futuristic architecture space. I always like unstructured and irregular forms, at the same time, it is able to reach a balance and giving people an unique experience. (Picture taken - 11/5/07, Bushy Park, Wanganui New Zealand)

We are finally see the detail of the plants and their expression on computer screen. Each part of the plants, perhaps make us understand more about their growth, and appreciate their precious life. Their organic shape inspired us to make more good design. (Picture taken - 24/6/07, Wanganui New Zealand)

Natural colours are the wonder of nature. I have taken a few low angle shots that show colourful flowers against the blue sky. The colour turns out to be really contrast yet harmony. I recalled what I have learnt during my colour study class back in art college. It was always a challenge for me to accomplish the class assignments. In fact we can take the advantage of seeking solution around us –the natural environment that always inspires! (Pictures taken - Spring 2007, Wanganui, New Zealand)
